C.J. Stroud, the No. 2 overall pick, has been named the starting quarterback for the Houston Texans in the 2023 season. This decision followed the team’s preseason game against the New Orleans Saints. Stroud expressed his gratitude for the opportunity he earned.

The Texans also have Davis Mills and Case Keenum on their quarterback depth chart. Stroud, known for his impressive college career at Ohio State, completed 69.3% of his passes for over 8,000 yards and 85 touchdowns in two seasons. He was the second quarterback selected in the 2023 NFL Draft after Bryce Young. The Texans begin their season against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 10, looking to improve upon their recent struggles.
